Colton Solos on 16th Birthday!
/in Club News /by Christopher Balcsik
Mega BFC congratulations to Colton Spires for doing his first solo, and on his 16th birthday to boot! Colton had been looking forward to this day since beginning training over 2 years ago. “He’s been ready for this for over a year,” said CFI Bill, “but had to wait for this birthday to meet the FAA requirement.” Colton’s family was on hand to watch him go around the pattern three times before pulling back into the BFC ramp with the biggest smile anybody has ever seen. We’re all proud of you Colton, and look forward to continuing your training to the Private Pilot checkride and beyond.
Tyler Williamson First Solo
/in Club News /by Anthony JohnsonG’day Everyone,
Great news, Tyler did his first solo flight today at KBFL in C-172 N73977. We did a few patterns together to warm up and then I sent him on his way, I think he did better without me. He did three very nice landings and coped well with a few changes thrown at him by ATC. A very significant aviation achievement.
Cheers
Nigel

Zuniga Gets His Wings: America’s Newest Airline Pilot!
/in Club News /by Christopher BalcsikHuge BFC kudos to Hector Marc Zuniga for passing his checkrides for his ATP and Type Rating at Envoy Airlines! He’s now an airline pilot!! Marc came to BFC just a couple of years ago wanting to learn to fly. He had his eye on becoming an airline pilot and he threw himself into his goal and wouldn’t let up. His dedication impressed all of his instructors, and he has now accomplished his first goal.
The CFI team at BFC wishes Marc a hearty congratulations and looks forward to tracking his career as he moves forward. Special recognition, too, goes to wife Liz, who put up with being a ‘pilot widow’ during Marc’s intensive training. Such accomplishments are truly family victories and Liz and daughter Emily deserve a lot of credit for helping him get through.
Marc, if you read this, remember us little people back home, and be sure to stay in close touch. Take care, friend.
Picture: BFC’s Captain Fred Webster met Marc at the sim center in Dallas to shake his hand and congratulate him on a job well done.

Pierre plans to fly his family to fun destinations, and has even invited his wife along on some of his training flights – she loves to fly, too! Félicitations Pierre pour votre grand accomplissement!
Zach St. John, Commercial Pilot!
/in Club News /by Christopher BalcsikHigh fives to Zach for passing his Commercial checkride recently with DPE Donna. The same day he passed his checkride he could be seen with CFI Ed Dunlap flying in the right seat working toward his CFI. No moss growing here! Congratulation, Zach, way to go.
